I'm Lonely!

Happy Monday! I remembered :)

I hope everyone blessed their Dads yesterday. If you have ever stopped to think about it, it's incredible how much they do for us!! I know I'm blessed.

Also, I'm just now beginning to realize that... well... Nobody is here except me :( So, if you happen to stumble upon my amateur blog, please! Comment! And if I'm lucky and you like it, please tell your friends :) Thanks guys :)

All Things Bright and Beautiful... is beautiful!

Hello.

Yet again, I convict myself of being a bad blog owner. I mean, what kind of monster am I to neglect a poor, innocent blog such as this one?

But seriously, I need to make a habit of NOT neglecting this. So... Yeah. I'll try. Hard.

Anyway... What have I been up to, anyway? Well, as of this past week, LISTENING TO THE NEW OWL CITY ALBUM. Duh. It's amazing and, well, beautiful. Let's go track-by-track, shall we?

 

1. The Real World

I think this fun song is simply about daydreaming. The best line in it is, "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." I think it's a good song, overall.

2. Deer in the Headlights

If you listen to any of Adam Young's commentaries on this album, he thinks of this song as "the pressures of being a perfect guy." I see this as a playful track about a guy who's just trying to experience the feeling of love so common and normal in this world (to no avail, which makes it a funny song!)

3. Angels

This track is one of my favorites. I love how Adam took kind of a risk, as this song isn't like his usual type. On this track, Adam explores the possibility of somebody seeing an angel, and how amazing that would feel. I personally like the spiritual message conveyed in this song, like a few others on the album.

4. Dreams Don't Turn to Dust

This song is simply about not letting go of your dreams, no matter what people tell you. Adam stages himself with all these different daydreams, and somebody indirectly tells him to basically grow out of it. However, Adam sticks to his daydreams and wishes his listeners to do the same.

5. Honey and the Bee

This (literally) sweet love song, featuring Breann Duren, presents a guy and a girl telling each other how much they love each other. A song of cute comparisons, it's another of my personal favorites.

6. Kamikaze

At first, the listener may think this track is on the wrong album. Not to fear, it's correctly placed. Adam himself admits it's a bit of a "sore thumb on the new record," but to be loved anyway. The unique style is definitely different for Owl City, but the lyrics and message is the same - playful lyrics telling the listener to stick to imagination and love. 

7. January 28, 1986

This short track, featuring a news clip, is a bit of a prelude to the next song on the track, Galaxies. The clip is about the tragic story of the space shuttle Challenger, that so many remember.

8. Galaxies

This song first strikes me as majestic and important. Adam says this song is in the mindset of what the Challenger passengers may have been thinking. I personally love, again, the spiritual setting of this track, in the form of a prayer of sorts to God for help, and thanks for being there no matter what. This might be the best song on the album, in my opinion. 

9. Hospital Flowers

This sad song is about someone who was in a terrible accident. With seemingly no hope, Owl City "sneakily" uses the flowers brought in sympathy in the most unrealistic manner possible, of course, to bring them to life and teach the person to see the bright side and be thankful they're still alive. Though slow and kind of sad, this is a touching and relate-able song about finding hope in despair.

10. Alligator Sky (featuring Shawn Chrystopher)

Adam explains the unique title of the track as "two words you would never think to put together." Like Kamikaze, this song is unique for Owl City. Featuring Shawn Chrystopher rapping many parts of the song, I like this song's different-ness and how easy it is to sing along to.

11. The Yacht Club

This playful song is about experiencing love, just for the sake of being in love. A cute, fun song, this is a good "dancey" (according to Adam) song.

12. Plant Life

Giving the thought of being trapped in a haunted house, wishing for something bright and happy - like flowers - to appear, Adam tells the reader that everyone needs to be happy at least once in a while. As the song says, happiness could be you saying "I'd rather waltz than just walk through the forest, the trees keep the tempo and they sway in time. A quartet of crickets chime in for the chorus..." I think this is a good song to end the album on, as it gives hope to a unique kind of happiness only Owl City's music can bring.

So, yeah. That's been my past week: Those twelve songs, over and over and over and over. Oh, and cleaning my room, but I wasn't really paying much attention to that ;)

Happy Mother's Day!

WOAH! Yet again, I have neglected my poor blog to the point of forgotten-ness. Thankfully its bookmark in my bookmarks bar reminds me that "Oh yeah! I have a blog, duh..." Kind sad, right? Haha. :)

Well obviously today is MOTHER'S DAY!! I don't know about you, but I'm soo blessed my mom. It's not even funny. My mom is everything to me. I think it's important to have a good relationship with your mom. I know I do! I tell her everything, good and bad. The closer I am to my mom, the more advise I get, and the better I usually do in life!! BLESS YOUR MOMS TODAY (and every day!) and you will be blessed in the long run. I guarantee it.

Alright, so I'll do my best to actually keep my promise and post regularly. Hehe :)

Oh yeah! For your viewing pleasure... I don't particularly like cats, but I thought this was adorable and very appropriate for today. :)

Major update!

...and by update, I mean about what's going on. First of all, to hopefully help me post more regularly, I've decided to post every Monday. Yes, I know today isn't Monday, but that's beside the point.. :]

Second, I'm sure everyone has heard about the horrible earthquake in Japan that happened a few nights ago. I think it's important that we all pray for them, whether we're able to go and physically help or not. Just a side note I think might be the biggest help to the people over there right now.

Third, I'm actually going to start updating the "Me and My Life" tab. Go check it out if you get a chance! :]

Fourth, I'd like to ask for prayer for my aunt. She is in the hospital (she's okay now, but she almost didn't make it). The hardest part of it for my family is that she and my uncle aren't saved. We're doing all we can to plant seeds, and of couse we're praying, but if we could have additional prayer :] Thanks!

Fifth, I have new music for you! Check out the all-new tab called "Music is Life is Music" to see the new songs in addition to songs I've mentioned before. :]

Gifts

Christmas has come and gone. Decorations are starting to come down, wrapping paper has been thrown out, family has left, music is returning to everyday music, gifts are being played with, leftovers are being eaten.

After Christmas, what does everyone do? Play with and appreciate their presents. So why shouldn't we do the same for the best gift we received before we were even born - God's only Son, sent as a simple boy to be a light to our dark world and save us from our son. However, unlike the presents we all got this Christmas (which usually get forgotten and broken and disliked as the year finishes and the next one starts), THIS is a gift we get to appreciate ALL YEAR ROUND. And THAT's a great gift.

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful, happy, Christ-filled Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year!! One of my resolutions will be to post on this blog more often.

Time Flies...

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been on in FOREVER... blame finals!!

Anyway, I hope everyone's doing great this Christmas season - shopping, wrapping presents, seeing family, and my favorite, decorating! Maybe I'll post a picture of some of my house's decorations.

I am so happy that we actually have celebrities (no matter how popular) that do love Jesus, and are OPEN about it! I've loved Owl City for a while now, but this confirms it. This is a BEAUTIFUL version of the song and it's awesome how emotional he is over it.

Devotions

Hey you! Yeah you! (I'm hyper and at my super duper uber close friend's house for her birthday haha) Anyway, I have a tip of the day for you.
Get a daily devotion started! Right now I'm going through Isaiah, a chapter a night. I just read throught the chapter and bring some English class skills in and basically annotate it - highlight something important or confusing and then write next to it what it means or why it's important. It works for me, but you really need to experiment on your own with what works for you. Bonne chase! (Good luck!)

Tip of the day: Find something you like to do and get involved with it. Whether it be sports, clubs, hobbies, whatever, find something to do for fun! When you get involved in what you love to do, you'll feel more like yourself. It's an amazing feeling I can't describe, so go find out about it for yourself!! :)

Cat talk

I don't have much today, so I'm going to give you random stuff I've been thinking about...

So, I hate cats, right? Well, I've discovered I'm a lot like them. (Note: I warned you this would be random.) I've "died" multiple times - not literally, of course; it's kind of a joke on my swim team that I die very easily. I've probably "died" about 18 times - so I guess I'm 2 cats put together? Anyway, the other reason I might be a cat at heart is that I hate getting wet - except in the pool, of course, but that's different. It was pouring rain today, and no thunderstorm is complete without constant loud thunder and spazzy lightning flashes. Anyway, I was in such a bad mood today because I kept getting wet. I really don't like rain - last time it rained out here (and it almost never rains where I live), I slipped and rolled my ankle. So it's not a totally pointless hatred. I have a little reason behind it.

So now I'll stop bothering you about how I might be a cat. Go sleep. I know I'm tired.
