[Favorite] Bible Verses

I'll put some of my favorite Bible verses up here, so check back often. (Be careful though, someday the whole Bible mighe be on here ;) No, that would be really crazy. I won't do that.)

September 15, 2010:
Isaiah 61:3 NIV
"...To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of goodness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor."
Notes: This is currently the main verse of this site (located under the title of the page). I love this, because it says that God will take your not-so-beautiful habits, thoughts, words, and so on and make you beautiful. How amazing is that?!?!

May 8, 2011:
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 ASV
"Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one recieveth the prize? Even so, that ye may attain. And every man that striveth int he games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible."
Notes: I know this translation is a little weird, but that's okay. Sometimes when I read this translation I feel closer to God in some weird way. Anyway, I love these verses because I'm an athlete. To me personally, they're saying that you run a race to win, and to win you need self-control to avoid the distractions of life (corruptible crown) that others strive for; rather, become solid in our faith (incorruptible) and run praising the Lord. Amen to that!
